SURVEYS

We offer a range of initial surveys including; Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Phase One Habitat Survey and Extended Phase One Habitat Survey for which we carry out at least one site visit and produce a report identifying habitat types present on site and the potential to support Protected Species of Plant/Animal. In addition, we can undertake Detailed Botanical Surveys and Habitat Suitability Assessment. Our most frequently requested survey is the Extended Phase One Habitat Survey (Also called an Ecological Report or Full Ecological Appraisal), which is ideal for accompanying a Planning Application for development of land. For development where existing buildings will either be demolished, converted/renovated, we recommend a Building Survey to establish the absence or presence of Breeding Birds or Roosting Bats, both of which are protected by law. We can also undertake Breeding Bird Surveys where population monitoring is required. Should a Preliminary Building Assessment reveal evidence of Bat activity on site, a series of Dawn and Dusk Surveys would be required to establish species, colony size and roost location. A Bat Low Impact Class Licence or Full Bat Licence can then be completed if needed. In addition, Bat and Bird Enhancement and Mitigation Schemes can be produced as required. Please Contact Us for advice on the most appropriate survey for your site.

Ponds are an important habitat for wildlife, in particular for the, legally protected, Great Crested Newt.  It is important to seek advice from a licensed ecologist if you have a pond on or within 500m of a potential development site. In addition to carrying out Amphibian, Reptile and Pond surveys, we can assess the likelihood of Great Crested Newt presence in a pond by using techniques such as a Pond Habitat Suitability Index and analysis of eDNA Samples. Should Newts be present on your site, we can provide Great Crested Newt Enhancement and Mitigation Schemes in addition to Full Newt Licencing. Please Contact Us for advice on the most appropriate survey and competitively priced quote.

We can offer a range of Mammal Surveys including Otter and Water Vole. Whilst these species are somewhat limited to riparian (river or stream) habitat, the presence of Badgers on site, can have an impact on any proposed development. We can offer Badger Surveys and Assessment in addition to Mitigation Plans where necessary. Please Contact Us for a quote.
